Tulum is a bohemian oasis, filled with beautifully constructed hotels, spiritual centers, and restaurants that execute both ambiance and flavor flawlessly. Of course, it was the city’s amazing Mayan ruins that overlook the pristine waters of the turquoise Caribbean that initially drew all of these lovely things to Tulum. Tulum’s spiritual scene is unrivaled, offering classes beyond your usual yoga session, meditation practices, mystical cacao ceremonies, and many other mind-expanding activities, humming peacefully in the background of the crowded beach clubs and posing influencers. Surrounding all of this is a dense cenote-filled jungle, as well as gorgeous natural reserves with opportunities for dolphin spotting, cave diving, and ATVing.
Tulum’s growing popularity has made it one of the most expensive locations in Mexico—but there’s a lot more to Tulum than whatever locale is receiving the most attention. You can also find authentic cultural experiences, create a genuine connection to your spiritual side, and find inspiration in the ultimate natural beauty of Tulum, which has always been a major attraction.

To Visit
BEST TIMES

Winter in Tulum coincides with the high season, so while the generally hot and humid weather is at its most lovely, hotel costs tend to spike, especially in the weeks leading up to Christmas and New Year’s. Tulum, like the rest of the Caribbean, is occasionally plagued by the scourge of sargasso seaweed. Seaweed washes up on the beach is normally raked away by midday, but from May to October, it washes up in greater and more difficult-to-manage quantities. Tulum is best visited in the fall, between late October and mid-December, for these reasons. This allows you some time to find better deals and avoid seaweed. If you can schedule your trip around a specific period of the month, you should think about the lunar cycle. Full moon parties are particularly popular in Tulum, and around this time, many spiritual centers and beach clubs arrange special events where guests can congregate under the full moon for either a beach dance party or a spiritual cleanse in the jungle.
